$25K in drugs, guns seized in Cochrane

COCHRANE - Two searches led to $25,000 in drugs being taken off the streets, along with guns, says police. 

Yesterday (Sept. 24), James Bay OPP executed search warrants at two Cochrane residences — one on Thirteenth Avenue and one on Huran Road. 

Police seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth, methamphetamine tablets, lorazepam and oxycodone. The estimated street value of the drugs is $25,000. Two guns, cell phones, scales, packaging and about $3,500 in Canadian cash were also seized. 

Three people were arrested. 

Luc Pronovost, 38, of Cochrane is charged with: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - oxycodone
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking - lorazepam
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

He is in police custody waiting for a court hearing today in Cochrane. 

Philip Archibald, 48, of Cochrane and Pearl Whiskeychain, 50, of Cochrane are each charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

They were each released from police custody and are set to appear in court on Oct. 22.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
