$30K of suspected meth seized in Kashechewan

KASHECHEWAN - Police intercepted a significant amount of methamphetamine from getting into a remote community in the Far North. 

Nishwnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) has been investigating drug trafficking in Kashechewan First Nation.

On Friday, Sept. 20, NAPS officers were called to the community's airport for a man believed to be in possession of illicit drugs. 

The suspect was arrested without incident. Police say during the investigation, suspected methamphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized. The street value of the drugs is $30,000. 

Harrison Wynne, 20, of Kashechewan is charged with possession of methamphetamine (pills) for the purpose of trafficking and possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. 

The accused has been released from police custody with conditions. He will appear in court at a later date. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
