3 charged with attempted murder in shooting near Englehart: OPP

CHARLTON  - Three people are facing attempted murder charges and one person is in hospital after a shooting near Englehart. 

On Sept. 23 just before 5 a.m., Temiskaming OPP were called to a "shooting incident" on Agnes Street residence in Charlton.

One person was brought to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, says police. 

Three people have been arrested and charged with attempted murder. Police say the names of the accused are not being released right now in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation. 

Yesterday, police issued an alert on social media telling people to expect an increased police presence in the community that's located west of Englehart.

"Police believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety. Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues," said police in a news release today.
