$5K in drugs seized in Cochrane

Police say it's suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine

COCHRANE - About $5,000 of illicit drugs have been seized by police. 

Around 8 a.m. on Feb. 20, James Bay OPP searched a residence on Seventh Avenue South in Cochrane. 

Suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $5,000 was seized by police. Officers also found a digital scale and $570 in Canadian cash. 

A 40-year-old woman from Cochrane is charged with: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • 2 counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with release order

The accused remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 4 in Cochrane. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
