Driver killled in head-on crash between transports on Highway 11

The second driver received life-altering injuries and is in hospital, says OPP

One driver was killed and another one is in hospital after a head-on crash involving two transports on Highway 11.

SMOOTH ROCK FALLS - One driver was killed and another is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash between two transports. 

The collision happened on Highway 11 near Red Pine Road, about five kilometres west of Smooth Rock Falls, on Jan. 17 around 9:30 p.m., says James Bay OPP. 

One of the drivers — a 57-year-old from Sainte-Eulalie, Quebec — was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other commercial motor vehicle is in the hospital with life-threatening and life-altering injuries, said police in a news release.

Highway 11 was closed in both directions for about 16 hours for the investigation. It reopened today (Jan. 18) around 1:30 p.m.
