A fatal overnight fire is under investigation.
Two people were killed in the fire at a two-storey house on Mountjoy Street South between Southern and Columbus.
Deputy Fire Chief Scott Atkinson said the blaze started about 12:30 a.m. today (Dec. 10). It was extinguished around 9 a.m.
The name of the victims will not be released until their identities are confirmed and next of kin notifications can be made, said Timmins Police
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in and is expected to arrive in town later today. Timmins Police is investigating the fire in conjunction with the local coroner and Fire Marshal.
The scene remains under control of Timmins Police and the Timmins Fire Department. Mountjoy Street South is closed to traffic between Southern and Montgomery.
Career firefighters from the Timmins Fire Department responded to the scene, along with volunteer firefighters from Timmins, Schumacher, Mountjoy and Whitney, said Atkinson.
