COCHRANE - During the evening of April 18, 2020, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Fifth Street in the Town of Cochrane.
One person was arrested and police seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), various prescription medication, drug paraphernalia, a prohibited weapon, ammunition, electronics as well as Canadian currency, all with a combined estimated street value of $6,000.
Donna Searles, 31 years old of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:
• Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
• Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
• Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
• Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
• Possession of Break In Instruments contrary to section 351(1) CC.
The accused person is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on July 28, 2020, to answer to the charges.
