Mountjoy Street murder victim identified

Police still appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near the Second Avenue and Mountjoy Street intersection Nov. 17

Police have released the name of the person killed in a Mountjoy Street South incident last week.

It happened in an apartment building Nov. 17. A man sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at Timmins and District Hospital.

The victim is 20-year-old Shane Guthrie-Douglas of Scarborough, said Timmins Police today.

The post-mortem has been completed and the murder is still being investigated. No details on the suspect have been released.

"As always, an appeal for anyone who might have observed suspicious activity at or near the intersection of Second Avenue and Mountjoy Street South area during the late afternoon hours of Nov. 17 to come forward is being made public," said police in a news release.
