After a "sizeable" drug seizure, Timmins Police hopes people get the message that the city is not the "most hospitable place" to deal drugs.
The late afternoon of Dec. 13, Timmins Police executed a search warrant at a Mountjoy Street North residence, seizing drugs with an estimated street value of $118,915, three loaded handguns, and $20,000 in cash.
Staff Sgt. Mark Vallier said it was a significant seizure for Timmins Police, who were assisted in the investigation by Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) and OPP.
"We do have a lot of opioids coming into our community and to get this off the street is something which our drug unit and all those involved should be commended for,” he said.
“Enforcing these laws and busting these dealers, we hope to send a message that maybe Timmins is not the most hospitable place to be doing your drug dealing."
Because of a publication ban, police could not share a lot of details about the seizure.
Police say the drugs seized include 187.2 grams of fentanyl, 65.8 grams of crack cocaine and three percocet tablets.
