OPP says a shelter-in-place has been lifted in Latchford and the surrounding area.
"The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police remains on scene for an investigation in the area of Highway 11 and Portage Bay Road. Residents should anticipate an increased police presence in the area," says an early morning news release. The road is north of the community between Latchford and Temiskaming Shores.
Police add that more information will be released as it becomes available.

Witnesses who were stuck on the highway said on social media they believed the incident involved a high-speed chase.
Few details have been released but the investigation involves a suspect who is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is described as Middle Eastern, about 30 years old, and dressed in black.
If you see the suspect, police say not to approach and to call 911.
Jessica Kennedy filmed from the passenger seat on her commute from Cobalt with her fiancé Mike Bigelow and posted the video below of the lineup of tractor-trailers on Highway 11 to Facebook as the sun rose Friday morning.
"If it helps anyone from being stuck in that lineup, it's doing what I posted it for. Just trying to save people from that headache," she told BayToday.
