KAPUSKASING - If you're interested in being a police officer, take a run at this event.

James Bay OPP is hosting an information session on Friday, Jan. 17 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. It's being held at Rock Box Crossfit, 76 Brunelle Rd. N., in Kapuskasing.

It's a chance to learn what you need to know about being recruited by the OPP and try the 20-metre Leger Shuttle Run, which is part of the OPP testing.

"The session includes an overview of how to apply, pre-requisites, expectations of an applicant and an overview of how to prepare for each stage of the process. This presentation will benefit those candidates who want to learn more about the OPP's recruitment process, to ensure they are at their competitive best before they apply," reads an OPP news release.

"This event is also focused on supporting prospective candidates with the shuttle run portion of the hiring process. Participants will have the opportunity to perform the shuttle run and those who are successful in reaching level 7 or higher will receive a certificate to prequalify their fitness level."

Register online here. On the day of the event, registration is at 1:30 p.m., with the session starting at 2 p.m. sharp.
