Teen facing break and enter, weapon charges

Police say beer was stolen from a Kim Avenue residence, the suspect was in possession of an edged weapon when he was arrested

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local young person with break and enter and weapons offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Aug. 10 at a Kim Avenue address.

Based on the outcome of an investigation by the Timmins Police Service, it has been determined that a suspect gained entry by force into a Kim Avenue residence during the evening hours of Wednesday, Aug. 10. 

The suspect proceeded to steal a quantity of beer from the residence.

The Timmins Police were able to identify and locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident the following day (Aug. 11) at a Birch Street North address.

Upon arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of an edged weapon. As a result of the incidents, a 14-year-old male young person from Timmins, who cannot be named in keeping with statutory restrictions, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with sentence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today, Aug. 12, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
