Teens among 4 facing charges after $30K in drugs, loaded gun seized in Timmins

It started during a traffic stop in the east end of the city

A loaded handgun, machete and other weapons, as well as $30,000 in illict drugs were seized by police during a traffic stop in the east end of Timmins.

On Aug. 19 around 6:30 p.m., South Porcupine OPP pulled over a vehicle on Highway 101 in Hoyle. 

Police say that the officer saw a substance suspected to be cocaine. 

During a search of the vehicle, police seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $30,000. A loaded handgun, extended magazine, ammunition, machete, four folding knives and four cell phones were also seized, says police.

"Illicit firearms pose a serious risk to public safety. They are often used by organized crime groups, including street gangs, to broaden and secure drug trafficking networks. They are also used in violent crimes including theft, intimidation, extortion and homicide," said police in a news release.

Four people from Timmins were arrested and charged. 

Amanda Clouatre, 43, of Timmins is charged with:

  • Transport firearm in a careless manner
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited ammunition for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Carry a concealed prohibited ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted weapon
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crack cocaine

Gregory McNeil, 43, of Timmins is charged with:

  • Transport firearm in a careless manner
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited ammunition for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Carry a concealed prohibited ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted weapon
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  •  Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crack cocaine
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Speeding - 111 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.

A 17-year-old from Timmins, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:

  • Transport firearm in a careless manner
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited ammunition for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Carry a concealed prohibited ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted weapon
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crack cocaine
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with sentence
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order

A 16-year-old from Timmins, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:

  • Possession of a prohibited ammunition for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Carry a concealed prohibited ammunition

  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted weapon
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crack cocaine
  • Fail to comply with sentence
  • 2 counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order

All of the accused appeared in bail court yesterday (Aug. 20) in Timmins. 

McNeil and Clouatre were released and are scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 12. The teens were held in custody and are slated to appear in court on Aug. 26. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
