Fentanyl found on driver charged with impaired: Police

TEMISKAMING SHORES - A Kirkland Lake resident is facing charges after police allege they were driving impaired and carrying suspected fentanyl. 

On Sept. 9 around 11:30 p.m., Temiskaming OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Sunnyside Road in Temiskaming Shores. 

Police say the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance and during the arrest suspected fentanyl was seized. 

A 42-year-old Kirkland Lake resident is charged with operation while impaired - drugs, and possession of a schedule I substance - opioid.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Haileybury on Sept. 24. Their licence is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
