Bonhomme Carnaval wraps up, mascot's identity revealed

'We’re very happy with the end result because the end result is we were together, and it felt good'

Centre Culturel La Ronde’s executive director Lisa Bertrand hopes Bonhomme Carnaval will become bigger and bigger each year.

After two weeks of festivities and events, the annual winter tradition has come to an end and the identity of this year’s mascot has been unveiled.

Rick Lemieux, the police foundations co-ordinator at Northern College, was this year’s Bonhomme Carnaval.

The carnival wrapped up on Saturday, Feb. 19, with an interactive magic show by Éric Leclerc and a dinner party at Porcupine Dante Club featuring the Les Gens du Nord band.

Bertrand thanked the centre’s board and all the staff, partners, funders, schools and businesses for participating and supporting the carnival.

“We hope to get this carnival bigger and bigger each year with more partnerships,” Bertrand said. "We’re very, very thankful. We’re very happy with the end result because the end result is we were together, and it felt good. It was so nice to be all together for the last part of the carnival.”
