The Mushkegowuk Council – Omushkego Education’s 27th Annual Kishay Pisim Mamawihitowin – Great Moon Gathering (KPM-GMG2018) returns for another year at Northern College on February 15th and 16th, 2018. This marks the third consecutive year that Northern College co-hosts the two-day event at its Timmins Campus.
“We are very honoured to be co-hosting the 27th Annual Great Moon Gathering at Northern College,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “Hosting cultural events such as the Great Moon Gathering, our Annual Powwow and Indigenous Cultural Awareness Week, and more, are an important component of our commitment to providing opportunities for our students, faculty, staff and community members to share their cultural experiences and perspectives.”
This educational conference provides dialogue, knowledge and insights, resources, and opportunities for educators to share and learn traditional Omushkego education, language, values, and strategies that support students’ engagement and success.
KPM‐GMG2018 will welcome 350 educators from education authorities in Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, and Moose Cree First Nations to Timmins. Educators from the Timmins region will also be invited to attend.
