The city is look for some help to get creative and cover up some of the graffiti in the laneway next to Comtec Computers on Spruce Street south.

TIMMINS - The city is looking for people to unleash their creativity on a unique laneway project.

On Friday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there's a community-led art project in the laneway next to Comtec Computers at 33 Spruce St. S.

The City of Timmins is working with the Timmins Native Friendship Centre for the event.

“We’ll provide the paint and brushes. We’re asking residents to provide their artistic talent," said Meagan Baranyk, the city's lead for the Community Safety and Well-Being plan, in a news release.

"Our laneways downtown are part of our transportation network: corridors for pedestrians and motorists accessing parking spaces, services, and amenities. We’ve made a concerted effort to clean up the laneways, adding garbage receptacles, sharps bins, and regularly scheduled maintenance and cleaning through our Public Works Department. Our mural painting event is one idea to help continue to use the space constructively and encourage pride in our public spaces."

No registration is required. If there's inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled.
