The second six-episode run of the television series Shoresy debuts on Sept. 29, with two episodes airing that night and subsequent episodes airing the subsequent four Fridays.
Filmed and set in Greater Sudbury, the comedic and foul-mouthed television series follows the exploits of the fictional Sudbury Bulldogs of the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization in their quest to never lose again.
The television series airs on Crave, whose media release notes the season premiére is called “Get ‘Em Focused,” and that the following episode, “Skill vs Will,” will see the Bulldogs prepare to play a new American team.
The first season of the television series, released around this time last year, is credited by the city with contributing $4.8 million toward the regional economy.
References to the Greater Sudbury area are peppered throughout the first season, with the team meeting for food at Peppi Panini, hanging out at The Coulson, the Dog House Sports Bar, Caruso Club and The Grand, and playing games at the Sudbury Community Arena.
With call-outs for background actors made earlier this year, viewers can also expect to see local faces on the screen.
In late 2021, Greater Sudbury city council voted to halve Sudbury Community Arena rental rates to accommodate the show’s filming. Last year, city council agreed to a three-year lease of Capreol Arena pad No. 1, which was closed early in the pandemic, to serve as a film studio.
When the second-season order was announced earlier this year, Mayor Paul Lefebvre credited it as “good news for our local economy, the television film sector and all the talented individuals who contribute to the production of the show – from those behind the scenes to those who take centre ice.”
