Muriel E. Newton-White - Quiet Living, Close Looking: The life and work of an unsung artist of the North

This exhibit is curated by Felicity Buckell and circulated by the Temiskaming Art Gallery. It celebrates the work of Newton-White, who died in 2011. She lived quietly and was always connected to the natural world. She captured her surroundings in drawings, paintings and books, working in oil, watercolour, egg tempera and India Ink. Entrance to the museum is free.
The Hollinger Open Pit Lookout
Get a glimpse into Newmont Porcupine’s mining operation in the middle of town. New this year is a bust of mining pioneer Benny Hollinger, who discovered the mine in 1909. It’s open seasonally seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. except when the mine is blasting, which is twice a day.
