4 charged as search turns up drugs, gun in Kirkland Lake

Timmins resident among those facing charges

An early morning search of a residence in Kirkland Lake has resulted in drug and firearms possession charges.

Around 2 a.m. on Aug. 3, several OPP units executed a search warrant at a residence on McKelvie Avenue.

Suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $37,000 was seized, said OPP in a news release.

Also seized was a handgun, cell phones and more than $4,500 in Canadian currency. 

A 26-year-old from Toronto is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order

A 56-year-old from Timmins, 25-year-old from St. Catharines, and 56-year-old from Kirkland Lake are charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

All four accused remained in custody pending bail hearings.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
