Accused in arson case tried to set ATV on fire, says police

CONSTANCE LAKE - One person is charged with arson after allegedly trying to set an ATV on fire. 

On Nov. 16, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service were called about an arson case that had just happened in Constance Lake. 

Police say that the suspect — a 34-year-old man — had poured fuel on an ATV and tried to set it on fire. At the scene, officers saw signs of spilled fuel and evidence of a recent fire near the ATV located directly next to a home. 

The suspect was arrested on Nov. 19. 

The Constance Lake man is charged with arson - damage to property. He appeared at a bail hearing today (Nov. 20) and was released from police custody. He's slated to appear in court at a later date. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
