COCHRANE - Police are reminding parents to inspect their children's candy after a blade was reportedly found in a mini chocolate bar.
James Bay OPP issued a warning after receiving the report about a mini chocolate bar being tampered with and containing a blade. It was found after trick-or-treating in Cochrane on a route extending from Victoria Avenue to 12th Avenue.
"The source of the chocolate bar is currently unknown," said police in a news release.
Police are reminding parents and guardians to thoroughly inspect their children's Halloween candy for:
- Tears, holes, or other irregularities in candy wrappers
- Signs of re-sealing or unusual packaging
- Any items that appear suspicious, even if unopened
If anyone finds candy that appears to be tampered with, they are urged to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
