NAPS chief terminated following conduct investigation

NAPS Chief of Police Roland Morrison has been terminated following the outcome of a conduct investigation.

THUNDER BAY – Following an investigation into his conduct Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) Chief Roland Morrison has been terminated.

The news comes following the outcome of the conduct investigation, according to the NAPS board of directors.

The board announced their decision to terminate Morrison's employment in a news release on Friday. 

Morrison had been under suspension since March 7 while the investigation was ongoing.

Interim Chief of Police Terry Armstrong has agreed to serve as Chief during the transition, according to the release. Armstrong had previously served Chief of Police from 2013-2018.

In the statement the NAPS board expressed their confidence in Armstrong and their gratitude toward him for taking on the role.

The NAPS board said they will make no further comment regarding the termination at this time.
