Don't call 9-1-1 about the power outage, says police

Police issued a notice saying they're aware of this morning's outage and are monitoring the situation to ensure public safety

TIMMINS - With the power out across the city, police are asking people not to call emergency lines about it. 

Timmins Police has issued a notice saying it's aware of this morning's outage and is monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.

They are asking people to not call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency line to report it. 

"These lines must remain open for emergencies that require immediate police, fire, or medical response," said police in a news release. 

If you are experiencing an outage, police say to contact your hydro provider. 

In Timmins, the power went out around 6:15 a.m. today. 

The outage is city-wide and is affecting other areas of the region as well. The current estimated time of restoration is 9:30 to 9:45 a.m.
