MOOSONEE - Officers on the way to an intimate partner violence call found the suspect allegedly driving drunk nearby.
James Bay OPP were called to a domestic disturbance in Moosonee on Dec. 1 around 2:30 p.m.
Police say the responding officers found one of the people involved driving on Quarry Road. The vehicle was pulled over and police say the driver showed signs of drinking.
A 37-year-old from Moosonee is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), assualt - spousal, and breach of recognizance.
The name of the accused hasn't been released to protect the victim's identity.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a Moosonee court in January. Their driver's licence was suspended for 90 days the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
