Kapuskasing RIDE program nabs impaired driver

The accused is facing two charges

KAPUSKASING - An alleged drunk driver was charged during a Festive RIDE program over the weekend. 

Around 1 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 1), James Bay OPP conducting a RIDE program on Brunetville Road in Kapuskasing stopped a vehicle. Officers arrested the driver after determining they had been drinking. 

A 45-year-old from Kapuskasing is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol, and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). 

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 13 in Kapuskasing. Their licence is suspended for 90 days their vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
