KAPUSKASING - A Brampton resident is facing drug trafficking and weapons charges after a handgun and $95,000 of drugs were seized by police in Kapuskasing.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, James Bay OPP executed a search warrant at a Cournoyer Street resident.
Suspected cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $95,000 were seized, as well as a loaded 40-calibre handgun, and Canadian cash.
Laroux Aman, 34, of Brampton is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Allegation of breach of conditional sentence order
The accused is still in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 13 in Kapuskasing.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
