COCHRANE - A man hauling around sleds of items he told police he found is facing break-and-enter-related charges.
On Feb. 1 around 10 p.m., James Bay OPP officers saw someone loitering in a commercial parking lot on Third Avenue in Cochrane. Police say the person was moving between trailers and storage containers with two sleighs filled with items the suspect told officers they'd found.
After an investigation, police say a cargo trailer on the property had been broken into and items were stolen.
A 33-year-old man from Cochrane is charged with:
- Break and enter a place - commit indictable offence
- Theft under $5,000
- Breach of recognizance
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of break-in instruments
The accused was released from custody and appears in a Cochrane court on Feb. 25.
Some of the stolen items have been claimed by their owners.
