There's been another double homicide in Kirkland Lake, says police.
Last night (Aug. 8) around 8 p.m., Kirkland Lake OPP went to a Kirkpatrick Street residence to do a well-being check, where officers found the bodies of a male and a female.
With the investigation being in its early stages, there are few details about the homicides. Police are warning residents to expect a large police presence in the area.
OPP continue to maintain that there's no imminent threat to public safety, though people are reminded to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
“If there was a concern towards the public safety we would put a bulletin out for that and we don’t believe there’s any concern for the public safety at this time,” said OPP Const. Rob Lewis.
This is the second double homicide in under two weeks.
Responding to a medical call on July 30, police found Amanda Lachapelle, 37, and Gabriel Marecki, 49, both of Kirkland Lake at a Woods Street residence. They were brought to the hospital, where both were pronounced dead. The case was originally said to be a death investigation and was later deemed a double murder.

The names of this week's victims have not been released yet. The release of names is usually after the post-mortem. The date for that isn't known yet.
Lewis couldn't say if the victims are known to the police.
Investigators are seeing if there are any links between the two homicides, he said.
"At this point, we can’t say yes or no to that, still early in the stages. And there are no arrests toward either one of them at this point,” he said.
Anyone with video surveillance or dash cam video that may show any part of Kirkpatrick Street or the surrounding neighbourhood from Saturday, Aug. 5 to Tuesday, Aug. 8 is asked to save the video and contact Kirkland Lake OPP at 888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
The investigation is ongoing.
