Three Cobalt residents are facing charges after police executed a search warrant last week.
The drug bust happened on Nickel Street in Cobalt on Sept. 20 when a search warrant was executed by Temiskaming OPP, the Emergency Response team (ERT), and the OPP's North East Region Community Street Crime Unit.
Police seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and oxycodone, as well as cash, drug paraphernalia and a prohibited weapon. The total estimated value of the items is over $12,000.
Three people have been charged.
Melissa Doire, 35, of Cobalt is charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Kayla Doire, 31, of Cobalt is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
Shaun Chesworth, 42, of Cobalt is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance - methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin)
- Fail to comply with probation order
All three were held for a bail hearing. They're scheduled to appear in court in Temiskaming Shores.
