A Schumacher man is facing dozens of charges after a lengthy investigation.
The alleged incidents started on Nov. 22. The suspect, 33-year-old Justin Bowerman, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 11 in Schumacher after Timmins Police officers responded to an unwanted person call.
Bowerman was found in a closet in the residence, said police. He was in possession of animal repellent spray, a folding knife and brass knuckles at the time.
Based on this incident, Bowerman has been charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon contrary to a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Police have also laid additional charges from a number of incidents.
In the late evening of Monday, Nov. 22, Timmins Police said Bowerman and an accomplice, 39-year-old Alan Young of Schumacher, forced their way into a utility area at an Algonquin Boulevard hotel and stole a number of tools.
Early the next morning, Bowerman and Young broke into an Algonquin Boulevard restaurant storage container and stole office equipment, said police.
Based on these incidents, Young and Bowerman have been charged with:
- Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts each of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Bowerman is also facing four additional counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
In the late afternoon of Friday, Nov. 26, police said Bowerman stole a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup from a Riverside Drive retail garage.
Based on this incident, he has been charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 4 counts of Operate a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
At a Croatia Street residence on Sunday, Nov. 28, Timmins Police said Bowerman stole an Ontario licence plate from a parked pickup truck on the property.
Based on this incident, he has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Remove Licence Plate Without Authority contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Bowerman was stopped by police in Schumacher on Sunday, Nov. 28 driving the stolen 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
"The accused deployed bear spray in an effort to disable the officer and flee the scene. Bowerman did manage to successfully escape the immediate area," reads the news release.

- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Flight form Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 4 counts of Operate a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Assault Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Administer a Noxious Substance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Possess a Firearm contrary to a Probation Order
- 2 counts of Use Plate Not Authorized contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Obstruct Plate contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
In the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 29, Bowerman broke into an enclosed trailer at an Algonquin Boulevard commercial address. Between $7,000 to $10,000 worth of tools were stolen and have since been recovered by the Timmins Police Service.
Based on this incident, the suspect has been charged with:
- Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Theft Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The final incident happened the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 29. According to Timmins Police, the accused painted a stolen 2011 Dodge Ram "in an effort to alter or disguise its appearance at a Schumacher address."
Based on this incident, the suspect has been charged with:
- Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Young has been released from custody on the strength of an undertaking. He's scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
Bowerman remains in police custody. He has a court appearance Dec. 17.
