KIRKLAND LAKE - On Dec. 10, 2020, The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Kirkland Lake OPP Crime Unit and the North East Region OPP Canine Unit (K9), executed a search warrant at a residence on Kirkland Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
Police seized drugs suspected to be opioids (fentanyl), cocaine and crack cocaine. Police also seized $3,595 in Canadian currency. Total estimated street value of the seizure is approximately $11,000.
As a result two people have been arrested and charged.
Allen PitremontI, age 47 of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA, and
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).
Ayub Hassan, age 19 of North York, Ont., has been charged with the following:
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA, and
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).
The accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice by video on Dec. 14, 2020.
