COCHRANE - With 2025 coming to a close, police are taking a look at the banned weapons seized in the region. 

This year, James Bay OPP investigations in Cochrane and Kapuskasing turned up several prohibited weapons. 

The items seized by police include switchblades, stun guns, brass knuckles, nunchakus, one-handed crossbows, spiked wristbands, bear spray and brass knuckles.

"Under the Criminal Code of Canada, certain devices are classified as prohibited weapons due to their potential to pose significant public safety risks," said police.

"The possession of prohibited weapons is a criminal offence and can result in serious charges."
