Thunder Bay police officer charged with assault causing bodily harm

THUNDER BAY — Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has charged a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service with assault causing bodily harm.

The SIU said the charge against Const. Marshall Moore is related to an incident that resulted in serious injuries to a 30-year-old man in the city in June 2023.

The officer is scheduled to appear in court next month.

No other information about the case was released by the SIU in a brief statement Tuesday.

The statement said that since the matter is before the courts, the SIU will not provide further comment on the investigation.

The independent agency is responsible for investigating the conduct of police that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
