Two drivers charged with impaired near Thornloe

A vehicle was ditched on Highway 11 in one of the incidents

THORNLOE - Two drivers are facing impaired charges after separate incidents near Thornloe.

On Jan. 10 around 8:45 p.m., Temiskaming OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Hilliard Township. 

A 70-year-old woman from Earlton is charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and operation while impaired - alcohol. 

The next day around 2:30 a.m., a suspicious vehicle on Lillie Street in Thornloe was reported to police. Officers found the driver asleep in the vehicle. 

A 45-year-old man from Thornloe is charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and operation while impaired - alcohol.

Both drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days. They are each scheduled to appear in a Haileybury court on Jan. 28. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
