Police say a passenger vehicle was sideswiped by an aggressive transport truck driver on Highway 11.

HEARST - A transport truck driver is facing charges after allegedly driving aggressively on Highway 11 and sideswiping a passenger vehicle, say police.

James Bay OPP were notified about the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on July 12 around 3 p.m. Someone called police to report an aggressive driver on Highway 11 west of Hearst in Gill Township.

"The CMV was reported to be passing on blind corners, causing multiple vehicles to drive onto the shoulder. Also, the CMV had sideswiped a passenger vehicle while re-entering the east bound lane, causing damage to the driver's side mirror," said police in a news release.

The CMV was located on Front Street in Hearst.

A 55-year-old man from Edmonton, Alberta, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Hearst on Sept. 4.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
