2 Kirkland Lake fires being investigated

A person with non-life-threatening injuries was rescued from one of the blazes

KIRKLAND LAKE - Two separate fires within 30 minutes are being investigated by police. 

On Sunday (March 2), Kirkland Lake OPP responded to two structure fires from 8-8:30 p.m. 

The first fire was on Government Road East, where first responders rescued one person from an apartment complex. They were brought to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, said police. 

The second blaze was on McKelvie Avenue.

The investigation includes the Kirkland Lake OPP crime unit, the North East Region OPP forensic identification service, and the Ontario Fire Marshal. 

Police are asking residents and business owners to check their security camera footage from March 2. Anyone with information about the fires should call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
