$65K of suspected crystal meth seized in Cochrane

Crystal methamphetamine worth an estimated $65,000 was seized by James Bay OPP in Cochrane.

COCHRANE - One person is accused of trafficking crystal methamphetamine after police seized $65,000 of the illicit drug executing a search warrant. 

James Bay OPP's community street crime unit, with help from its North Bay counterpart, executed the search warrant at a Thirteenth Avenue residence in Cochrane today (Jan. 16) around 9:30 a.m. 

Officers seized suspected crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $65,000, as well as a cell phone, digital scale, and small amount of Canadian cash. 

Luc Pronovost, 38, of Cochrane is charged with: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • 3 counts of failure to comply with a release order

The accused is in police custody and has a bail hearing on Jan. 17. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
