KAPUSKASING - An appointment at the police station turned into an impaired charge for a Timmins driver.
A Timmins resident drove themselves to the James Bay OPP station in Kapuskasing for an appointment yesterday (Jan. 14) around 7 p.m. While talking to the driver, police said there were signs of alcohol consumption.
A 53-year-old from Timmins is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and possession of a schedule III substance - psilocybin (magic mushrooms).
The accused was released from police custody and has a court date on Feb. 24 in Kapuskasing. Their driver's licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Two impaired drivers were arrested in Kapuskasing yesterday.
Early in the morning, a Timmins man was charged after a vehicle got stuck driving onto the train tracks at the intersection of Government Road and Brunelle Road.
