TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code and Drug Possession offences stemming from the execution of a Search Warrant at a Birch Street South residence this morning.
Based on an ongoing drug investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Timmins Police Service while working in conjunction with platoon officers, a search warrant was executed allowing entry into the residence.
As a result, the following exhibits were seized as evidence by the Timmins Police Service:
- 11.2 grams of Fentanyl (“purp”) with an estimated street value of $6,720
- 1.3 grams of Fentanyl (“blue”) with an estimated street value of $780
- 9 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $900
- 3.8 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $380
- 57.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $5,740
- 37 methamphetamine tablets with an estimated street value of $185
- a .410 shotgun
- a sawed off .410 shotgun
- a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun
- a .357 replica pellet gun
- a rifle style pellet gun
- a military replica air gun
- $445 in Canadian currency
The total street value of the drugs and cash seized is $15,150.
As a result of the incident, Alain Gamache, 37, of Timmins, has been arrested and charged with:
- Three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Careless storage of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Having knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Gamache remains in police custody at present awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
