Two killed, two injured in Highway 11 transport crash

A collision between two transport trucks on Highway 11 resulted in the deaths of both drivers and the hospitalization of two passengers. Dec. 14, 2024.

GREENSTONE — Two people were killed in a transport crash on Highway 11 between Longlac and Hearst Saturday morning.

Two transport trucks were involved in the fatal collision, which occurred before 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 14.

The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.

There was also a passenger in each vehicle. Both passengers sustained injuries and were brought to the local hospital, according to an Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

OPP officers from the Greenstone detachment, along with fire and emergency medical services responded to the collision. The North West Region OPP's traffic incident management enforcement team is investigating the incident. 

The highway was closed for hours between Hearst and Longlac for the investigation.
